Configuring of operation: Control Loop Data
Select the control loop(s), tags, time range, and the resampling options to import cached data for deployed Process+ control loops.
Steps to configure
-
Select Control Loops: Select the control loops for which you want to import data. Note that only the control loops that are available in the CSense Data Server that you selected during installation are available for import.
-
Select Tags: Select the control loop tags you wish to include in the dataset. Only the selected control loop tags will be included in the dataset.
-
Select Time Window: Specify a time window for the imported control loop data.
-
Select Resampling: Select the resampling option to specify how data will be resampled in the imported dataset.
-
Execute: The dataset with all the selected control loop tag data is imported.
NOTE: You can click Finish at any stage and skip any of the above configuration steps, however, the dataset will be created with data based on the following default configurations:
Control Loops and Tag selection- by default, all the available control loops and tags are selected.
Time Window selection- the default configuration is one day.
Resampling period selection- the default configuration is Auto (Use smallest sampling period on selected loops).
Step 1: Select Control Loops
Select the required control loops for which you need to create a dataset. Only the control loops that are configured on the CSense Data Server database are listed and available to be selected.
You can use the checkboxes available on the control loops to select only the control loops that you need, or use the Select All option to select all the control loops at once.
To sort and filter the control loop information that you want, you can use the filter operations that are available on all the columns in the table.
NOTE: The checkbox available immediately below the Select column is meant to filter the list of control loops that you want to view based on your selection.
If you clear the checkbox, the grid displays all the unselected control loops.
If you select the checkbox, the grid displays all the selected control loops.
If you select the checkbox and it is green, the grid displays all the available control loops. This is the default selection when you open Operation Properties.
-
To select the required control loop(s), select the checkbox of the control loop.
-OR-
If you want to select all the available control loops, on the top right corner, click Select All. -
Once you select the required control loops, to proceed with the tag selection, click Next.
The Select loop tags page appears. -
If you want to accept the defaults for time window, tag selection, and resampling period, click Finish.
A dataset is created with the default time window, control loop tags, and resampling period. -
If you want to cancel the import operation, click Cancel.
Step 2: Select Tag
Select the required tag information of the loops that you selected. The following tags are supported and are available for selection:
Tags | Description | Type |
D | Derivative value. For more information, see Terminology. | Double |
F | Filter value. For more information, see Terminology. | Double |
I | Integral value. For more information, see Terminology. | Double |
P | Proportional value. For more information, see Terminology. | Double |
Control_Type |
Type of controller mode. Possible values are "Auto", "Manual", "Shutdown", or "Cascade". |
String |
LL |
Lower limit of the PV. NOTE: LL is configured when deploying control loops as part of the loop configuration. |
Double |
MV | Manipulated variable. For more information, see Terminology. | Double |
PV | Process variable. For more information, see Terminology. | Double |
SP | Set point. For more information, see Terminology. | Double |
UL |
Upper limit of the PV. NOTE: UL is configured when deploying control loops as part of the loop configuration. |
Double |
NOTE: All the tags are optional to be selected. However, you must select at least one tag to proceed further with the dataset creation.
-
To select the required tags, from the Available section, select the tags that you want.
-
To move the tags that you selected to the Selected section, click >.
-OR-
If you want to select all the available tags and move them to the Selected section, click >>. -
Once you select the required tags, to proceed with the time window selection, click Next.
The time window selection page appears. -
If you want to accept the defaults for time window, and resampling period, click Finish.
A dataset is created with the default time window, and resampling period. -
If you want to cancel the import operation, click Cancel.
Step 3: Select Time window
Select the time window for the imported control loop tag data in the dataset. With this option, you can create a dataset with the latest control loop tag data.
NOTE: The availability of data is determined by the availability of data in the Process+ Loop Data Cache. Loop data is cached for a limited period (default 30 days). Specifying a time window outside the available cache period may result in an empty dataset.
-
To select the time window, from the drop-down that is available next to the Last text field, select a timeline.
For example, if you want to select tag data for the last 20 hrs, type 20 in the Last text field, and then from the drop-down, select Hour(s). -
Once you select the required tags, to proceed with the resampling rate selection, click Next.
The resampling rate selection page appears. -
If you want to accept the defaults for resampling period, click Finish.
A dataset is created with the default resampling period. -
If you want to cancel the import operation, click Cancel.
Step 4: Select Resampling:
Select a resampling option if you want to import control loop data at a different sampling rate. Higher sampling periods result in lower sampling rates.
To select the resampling rate,
-
From the Resampling drop-down, select the required resampling options. You have the following options:
-
Auto (Use smallest sampling period on selected loops)- If you select this option, control loop data is resampled using the sampling rate available on the selected control loops. All data are resampled using the control loop with the highest sampling rate.
-
Custom- If you select this option, the Sampling Period (in sec) text field is enabled. You can type the required sampling period. All imported data will be resampled at the rate specified.
-
None- If you select this option, no resampling will be applied to the imported dataset and all the raw data for each control loop will be included in the dataset.
-
-
To proceed with the dataset creation, click Next.
The dataset creation execution begins. -
If you want to cancel the import operation, click Cancel.
Step 5: Execute
The dataset is imported. The values of fields in the dataset will be set to null when:
-
-
The selected control loop is out of the database cache setting window.
-
Any of the control loop value in the file is empty.
-
If there are any bad quality values in the database.
